Week No. 2 at the gym: After three days in a row last week, my body requested a day of rest on Saturday. That worked out well, because I’ve been able to show up at the gym every other day this week. Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday. And I intend to go today, Friday. I start with stretching, then an easy walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes, and a few minutes on the rowing machine. Some days I do some strength-training exercises on the machines. Thursday, I did both cardio (the treadmill) and the weight machines, so today’s a quick and easy day, treadmill only.

Nice to make your acquaintance, Mark, especially since you spent part of your childhood in Montgomery County, where I grew up. (I graduated from Peary HS.) You’ve been blogging longer than almost anyone, since 2005! I can’t afford a personal trainer, and at my age — and with my minimal goals — I don’t I really need one. All I want to do is show up at the gym and keep the old muscles and joints functioning. I’ve been involved in various types of sport and exercise throughout most of my life, so I’m not a total newbie. But some days I need a trainer shouting at me just to motivate me to stay on the treadmill. 🙂
