” Working Life …”

“I have nothing to say of my working life, only that a tie is a noose, and inverted though it is, it will hang a man nonetheless if he’s not careful.”

    • Very true, I think. On the other hand, many say they’d prefer to “die with their boots on.” Still working that is, but most of them probably don’t work in an office πŸ™‚

Brings to mind my French-Canadian grandfather, a lifelong associate in the ranks of the working poor. He was in quite ill health. He got up on his last day, dressed, including boots, I’m told, then reclined on his bed and passed away dressed for work.

  1. My Grandfather came home from work one day in 1954, sat down in his easy chair, and died a few minutes later of a heart attack. I never knew him because I was only a few months old then.
